Tukaone Weavers Camp

Tukaone Weavers Camp sits in the heart of Central Serengeti, in a wildlife-rich enclave with no neighbouring lodges close enough to break the quiet. It is the original camp of a family-owned and operated collection, and it is permanent rather than mobile, standing year round. Raised on hand-hewn timber platforms and sheathed in resilient canvas, the camp follows the classic East African safari ethos, rustic in construction and unhurried in the way it works. There are fifteen safari tents, all en-suite and furnished in a uniform style, in twin, double and triple layouts with larger options for families and groups and a honeymoon tent for couples. Each tent has mesh-screened windows that keep the sounds of the plains close, mosquito nets, shelves, hot showers and fine linens made from local textiles. The tents are set apart from the lounge and restaurant and from each other, which is what gives the camp its privacy. Daily life gathers at the restaurant and the lounge, where a fire burns in the evening and a charging station and a library of books and board games sit within reach. The chef serves three multi-course meals a day with lunch boxes for game drives, and sundowners close each safari day. Lighting runs on solar with a generator in reserve, and Wi-Fi reaches the common areas rather than the tents. The camp is unfenced, and buffalo, zebra and lion are regularly heard from the tents after dark, so an askari escorts guests at night. Weavers is the closest of the three Tukaone camps to Seronera Airstrip, which puts the Seronera River Valley and its resident lion, leopard and cheetah within an easy drive, and the Great Migration crosses Central Serengeti in the shoulder seasons.
