Tipilikwani Mara Camp

Set directly on the Talek River with the Masai Mara National Reserve on its doorstep, Tipilikwani Mara Camp pairs an unbeatable wildlife location with genuinely comfortable, semi permanent tented accommodation. Each of its 20 tents opens onto a private veranda facing the river and is furnished with rich Maasai textiles, an en suite bathroom with double basins, a flushing toilet and both an indoor and outdoor shower. Four of the tents combine into two family suites, each adding a freestanding bathtub for travelling families. Days here begin with coffee delivered to the tent veranda and unfold around game drives in small, open sided vehicles that keep group sizes to six guests for a more intimate encounter with the plains, home to lion, cheetah, elephant and, between June and October, the great wildebeest and zebra migration. Back at camp, the open sided dining room and lounge look out over the river, the kidney shaped pool offers a cool break from the midday sun, and evenings close around the fire pit or with a private bush dinner lit by lantern. Cultural visits to nearby Maasai communities round out a stay that balances proximity to the reserve with a relaxed, low key camp atmosphere.
