The Loop Beach Resort

The Loop sits directly on the fine white coral sand of Jambiani village, on Zanzibar's southeast coast, where the beach runs for kilometres in either direction. The property is small and adults only, built around a central swimming pool with just 18 rooms across four categories, giving it the feel of an intimate barefoot hideaway rather than a large resort. Design leans into bold, colourful Tanzanian character: recycled pallet furniture, murals and paintings by young local artists, makuti thatch roofs and open air common spaces that blur the line between indoors and out. The restaurant and bar serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with views over the pool and the Indian Ocean beyond, and there is a lounge under a large thatched roof for relaxing between meals. Jambiani's dramatic tides are the main event outside the resort gates. Low tide opens up long stretches of sand for walking and exploring the reef flats, while high tide brings in the water for kite surfing, wind surfing, sailing and kayaking at the on site water sports centre, which also arranges snorkelling trips and boat excursions out to the reef. The resort is well placed for day trips to Stone Town and the spice plantations, and it is a popular choice for honeymooners.
