Suricata Boma Lodge

Suricata Boma Lodge stands in Mto wa Mbu in northern Tanzania, on the floor of the Great Rift Valley between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. Two century-old baobabs mark the entrance, setting the tone for a property that leans into its landscape rather than imposing on it. Tropical gardens open toward Lake Manyara and the escarpment beyond, and the lodge is known for its sunset views across the valley. The architecture is deliberately eco-conscious. Buildings are constructed from locally sourced materials and sited to blend into the surrounding terrain, with interiors furnished by handcrafted objects made by local artisans. Accommodation is in bungalows, each uniquely designed around a different wild animal, and each fitted with wireless internet, air conditioning, a minibar, electric kettle, hairdryer, cotton robes, and room service. The property is fully accessible, with ramps throughout. Dining follows a farm to table approach, supplied in part by the lodge's own on-site farm growing organic fruit and vegetables. The restaurant runs a live kitchen where guests can watch meals being prepared, and dining is served either indoors or on a veranda facing the baobabs and Lake Manyara. Breakfast features homemade pastries, and the menu moves between seasonal produce and traditional Tanzanian specialties. Beyond the game drives, the lodge fills out the day: the Chelewa Spa, a gym, a pool with a pool bar and sunset views, plus cooking and painting classes, bird watching, canoeing, biking, Maasai village and Mto wa Mbu cultural tours, and bush or lake view dinners.
