Ruaha River Lodge

Tanzania

About this stay

Ruaha River Lodge sits on a dramatic bend of the Great Ruaha River, its 24 stone and thatch chalets built into the rocks and split across two intimate camps so each feels like a private stay of just twelve rooms. Every room has a river facing veranda, netted bed and en suite bathroom with solar heated water. Ruaha is Tanzania's largest national park and a meeting point of southern and eastern African wildlife, home to large elephant herds, sizeable lion prides, and species rarely seen elsewhere such as greater kudu, sable and roan antelope. Game viewing continues well beyond the vehicle: elephants and hippos regularly wander through camp, and Maasai guides escort guests between rooms after dark. Days are spent on game drives and walking safaris across open baobab studded plains, with sundowners on the riverbank as the sky turns pink over the water. Ruaha River Lodge is run by Foxes Safari Camps and is reached by Safari Air Link charter flight or a scenic drive from Iringa.
