Pumzika Luxury Safari Camp

Pumzika Luxury Safari Camp sits in a quiet pocket of the Seronera area in the central Serengeti, near Banagi and roughly 20 km, about 35 minutes by road, from Seronera airstrip. It is deliberately small: six extremely large canvas tents, each with its own bathroom fitted with a locally made handmade washbasin and a bucket shower, and each furnished in the manner of the early safari era with safari chairs, luggage racks and a writing desk of the kind old explorers wrote their diaries on. Beds are two queens dressed with 100 percent percale cotton sheets, feather duvets and mohair blankets for the cold Serengeti nights. The heart of the camp is a mess and lounge area of leather sofas, cushions and candles that opens directly onto the plains, with a well stocked bar and a camp fire where guests gather before dinner. Because the camp is unfenced and well off the main circuit, giraffe and buffalo move between the tents after dark and two of the most prolific lion prides in the park range through the surrounding country. Rates are full board. The camp is owned and run by East Africa Camps, which also operates the separate and larger Pumzika Classic Safari Camp in the Serengeti, so the two should not be confused. Arusha is about 330 km away, roughly six hours by road, or two hours by air to Seronera followed by the short transfer to camp.
