About this stay
Pakulala Safari Camp is positioned above the Ngorongoro Crater rim within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, run by East Africa Camps and Kirurumu. It is a luxury tented camp evoking the classic safaris of the late 19th century, with eleven under-canvas tents that each hold two queen beds and a private bathroom fitted with a bucket shower and eco-toilet. Interiors are furnished with handmade local washbasins, cow-leather safari chairs, feather duvets and percale cotton linens, alongside handmade carpets woven by the Mbulu women's community, and each tent has a terrace for stargazing. The camp runs on solar power and solar lighting rather than mains electricity, part of its eco-friendly approach. A campfire area with crater views is the social heart of the camp, drawing guests for evening drinks, and dining is paired with a selection of wines and spirits. The setting looks over one of Africa's largest concentrations of wildlife, with game drives conducted within the crater and strong opportunities for Big Five sightings.
