As the first B and B established in Arusha, Outpost Lodge offers a warm Tanzanian welcome in a leafy city district about 20 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by car from the centre of town. The lodge sits in the former home of Bernhard Grzimek, one of the founders of Serengeti National Park. Guests can lounge by the pool on sunloungers before or after a safari or Kilimanjaro climb, relax in the gardens tended by the head gardener, or unwind in the lounge and bar. There are 28 rustic but comfortable rooms with fans, mosquito nets, satellite TV and Wi-Fi in the public areas, and organic toiletries. The on-site restaurant serves fresh, wholesome meals made with locally sourced ingredients, including a full breakfast buffet, and the long serving staff give the lodge a genuinely family run feel.
