Nyota Serengeti

Nyota Serengeti sits in unfenced wilderness in the heart of the Central Serengeti, roughly 30 minutes by road from Seronera airstrip and positioned in the northern part of Seronera on the road toward Lobo. The Orangi River meanders along the camp's boundary, drawing a steady procession of wildlife, and guests can walk down to it with a guide. Seronera holds resident game year round, which lets the camp serve flexible itineraries in any season rather than chasing the migration. The 24 guest tents are built on hardwood platforms with wooden floors, wooden partitions dividing the sleeping space from the bathroom, and a wraparound veranda with a private outdoor shower. Rooms run to 45 square metres and feel closer to a lodge than a tent, though canvas keeps the sounds of the bush close at night. Suites add a minibar stocked with house wine, beer and soft drinks, plus a completely private outdoor bathtub set on the verandah. The restaurant, known as the mess tent, opens onto a verandah over the bush and serves buffet or family style depending on guest numbers, mixing Western dishes with Swahili cooking and live cooking on selected evenings. A lounge holds a well stocked bar, a small library, board games and a telescope for the night sky. Nyota means stars in Swahili. A swimming pool with its own thatched poolside bar is a genuine rarity this deep in the Serengeti, and Maasai guards tend the evening campfire.
