MARA RIVER LUXURY CAMP IN SERENGETI

Malaika Mara River Luxury Camp occupies a quiet rise in the far north of the Serengeti, close to Kichwa Tembo Junction and roughly 25 km from Kogatende Airstrip. This is the corner of the park the migration funnels into in the second half of the year, when the herds mass on the banks of the Mara River before crossing, and the camp is near enough that a morning drive reaches the crossing points without a long transfer. Outside those months the northern plains empty out and this becomes one of the most private parts of the Serengeti, with resident plains game and very few other vehicles. Accommodation is tented and comes in four layouts. Luxury Tents and Scenic View Tents each take single, double or triple configurations, and both have a family version that adds a second sleeping area for children or a small group. All of them sit on raised timber platforms with hardwood floors and canvas ceilings that rise to a central peak, and all have an en-suite bathroom and a private veranda. The Scenic View tents are the most open of the four, with full height glazing along the front and a deck facing out over the grassland. Bathrooms run to twin basins and hot showers, and several tents include a freestanding timber bathtub placed where you can see out while you soak. The heart of the camp is a long, gently curved mess tent left open along its sides, divided into a lounge with deep sofas and a small library, a bar, and a dining room where meals are served at set times. Just outside, a firepit surrounded by wicker armchairs is where most evenings end, and a separate deck shaded by a stretch canopy handles lunch and afternoon tea. Guided game drives in the northern Serengeti are the main activity, with bush walks available where park rules allow. Airstrip transfers, laundry and round the clock camp support are arranged by the team on site.
