Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort occupies a broad stretch of lawn and yellow barked acacia on the southern shore of Lake Naivasha, close enough to Nairobi that guests often use it as a first or last night on a Kenya circuit. Twenty one stone cottages are laid out in a crescent facing the water, four rooms to a cottage, for a total of 80 standard rooms and two suites. Two rooms are adapted for guests with reduced mobility and six cottages offer interconnecting ground floor rooms for families. Ground floor rooms have two queen beds and a sunken sitting area that opens onto the grass, and the stone of the exterior walls is carried inside. Public areas sit under high thatch: a circular bar, a lounge built around an open fireplace, two dining rooms and long timber decks furnished for afternoons in the shade. Beyond them a swimming pool, tennis, a gift shop and a fully equipped conference centre. Colobus monkeys and a long bird list keep the gardens busy, and boat trips, Crescent Island walks and Hell’s Gate are all close by.
