About this stay
Hondo Hondo Udzungwa Forest Tented Camp sits on the boundary of Udzungwa Mountains National Park, one of Tanzania's most biodiverse forest ecosystems and part of the Eastern Arc Mountains — sometimes called Africa's Galapagos. The camp offers six forest tented rooms and five traditional thatched huts.
Tented rooms feature furniture made from locally sourced renewable materials like coconut wood and bamboo, comfortable spring mattresses, and soft throws made by the local Ifakara Women Weavers. Open-air bathrooms offer views into the forest canopy with western-style flush toilets, solar hot-water rain showers, and sinks. Each tent has lighting, personal solar reading lights, a solar fan, and phone/camera charging sockets.
The traditional thatched huts offer a simpler option with double and single beds and mosquito nets. Camp facilities include a restaurant and bar, lounge, fire pit with natural seating, and a self-catering cooking area. The camp serves as the ideal base for hiking into the Udzungwa forests to see endemic primates, including the Udzungwa red colobus monkey.
