Hemingways Nairobi

Opened in 2013, Hemingways brought a colonial revival elegance to Karen: white gables, tall vaulted ceilings, dark timber beams and long verandas that open onto lawns falling away towards the Ngong Hills. Every one of the 45 rooms is a suite, which makes it unusually comfortable for a city stay at the start or end of a safari, and each comes with a balcony, walk in wardrobe, marble bathroom and the attention of a dedicated butler. The public rooms are quietly grand, with a double staircase in the entrance hall, a lounge for afternoon tea, a bar that turns busy at sunset and a glass walled wine cellar for private dinners. There is a spa, a well equipped gym and a heated pool on a sun terrace beyond the gardens. Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum and Wilson Airport for light aircraft transfers are all within a short drive, and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is about forty five minutes away.
