Empakai Camp

Empakai Camp is a seasonal safari camp set within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering an authentic and off-the-beaten-path wilderness experience in one of Tanzania's most geologically dramatic landscapes. The camp provides access to the stunning Empakai Crater with its flamingo-filled soda lake and the broader Ngorongoro highlands. Accommodation is in comfortable safari tents with en-suite facilities, designed to provide essential comforts while immersing guests in the raw beauty of the highland landscape. Each tent features a proper bed, private bathroom, and views of the surrounding volcanic terrain. The camp serves as a base for guided walks to the Empakai Crater rim and descent to the crater floor, as well as visits to active Maasai bomas and the dramatic Ol Doinyo Lengai — the only active carbonatite volcano in the world. This is one of the most exclusive and rarely visited areas accessible from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
